Why Studios Are Delaying Movies Because Of The Hollywood Strikesĭisney isn't the only Hollywood studio considering a delay in major upcoming releases because of the writers and actors strikes. Something similar may happen with Disney's other upcoming releases. According to The Wrap, the Emma Stone-led Poor Things has already been delayed from September 8, 2023, to December 8, 2023. This includes Next Goal Wins from Taika Waititi, Disney's next animated film Wish, and Magazine Dreams starring Jonathan Majors. Now, Bloombergreports that Disney is considering the delay of four of its films from their original 2023 releases because of the ongoing strikes. This means both writers and actors are no longer working on productions for studios that are part of the AMPTP until negotiations can be made. Hollywood's writers and actors are currently on strike, fighting for fair pay, residuals from streaming, and the regulation of AI in creating movies and TV shows.
